Theo Computer

A dedicated GPU computer rented by the minute from live supply: H100, H200, B200 and the cards beside them, in boxes of one to eight GPUs. Pick a box off the board, add funds to your balance, and it is set up and ready within two hours; the balance is drawn down only while it runs. Open it from Tools → Theo Computer or at /compute.

What you get

One box, yours alone: the GPU class and size you picked on the board (or a reserved box we hold, such as 4× NVIDIA B200) with the disk you choose (50 GB to 2,000 GB, fixed for the life of the computer), its own hostnames, SSH with your keys, and one of four templates.

Inference endpoint

Setting up a computer

1. What for, and which computer. Say what you want to do and pick from our Good / Better / Best suggestions, or any computer for sale. The price shown is locked when you save; the name you give it also seeds the computer's address. Coming from the public page, the box you built there is already filled in.

2. How long you plan to use it. An estimate, not a purchase: pick a duration and we set an auto-stop for it and suggest what to add to your balance; pick “until I stop it” and the balance is the only clock.

3. Details, optional. Disk size, environment variables, a start command for your own image, extra ports, a region, framework versions, models to preload, datasets to mount, your SSH public keys and anything else. Secrets (a Hugging Face token, a registry login for a private image, dataset credentials) go in a sealed box of their own.

4. Add funds and start. If your balance already covers at least an hour of the computer, you start right away. Otherwise you add funds first (the suggested amount covers the duration you planned), read the exact terms you are agreeing to, tick the box, and pay by card. The computer is saved before you pay, so the price is locked either way.

The computer then shows as Setting up, then Checking it over once the box has booted, then Running. You are notified in-product at each step; the page polls on its own.

Add your SSH public keys before you start. They are written into the box at boot, and SSH is key-only, so a computer without them has to be re-provisioned. The browser remembers the keys you typed last time.

Your balance and the meter

You keep one prepaid balance for every computer you run. Top it up by card from the preset ladder ($10, $25, $50, $100, $250, $500) or any amount from $10 up. As an example, the reserved 4× NVIDIA B200 at $55.00 an hour draws about:

24 hours

≈ $1,320.00

24 hours, then auto-stop

3 days

≈ $3,960.00

72 hours, then auto-stop

7 days

≈ $9,240.00

168 hours, then auto-stop

30 days

≈ $39,600.00

720 hours, then auto-stop

Until I stop it

$55.00/hr

no auto-stop

Market prices move with supply and refresh about every minute while you look at the board. The price you lock when you save a computer is yours for as long as it runs, whatever the board does afterwards. A reserved box we hold has a fixed price that never moves.

The meter starts the moment the computer is handed to you, not when you add funds, and draws the balance down by the minute at the locked rate. A computer may start only when your balance covers at least an hour of everything you have running; an account also has an hourly spend cap, which we raise on request.

Billing shows the balance, what is running and how long it will last, every top-up and every computer's usage by the hour. Receipts for card payments come from Stripe by email. You can set a low-balance alert; it rings once when the balance falls to the line, and again after each top-up.

Auto-reload

Turn on auto-reload and, whenever your balance falls to a threshold you choose, we charge your saved card an amount you choose and add it to the balance. The standard rule is at $10.00, add $50.00; you can set any threshold below the amount.

It reloads at most once an hour, and pauses itself if it ever runs many times within an hour, so a runaway can never drain a card. You agree to the exact sentence before it is on, either by ticking the box when you add funds (which saves that card) or from Billing with the card on file. A declined card, a bank asking you to confirm, a refund or a dispute pauses it, with the reason and the way back shown in Billing.

Using it

The computer's page lists your endpoints with a copy button each: the notebook, the inference API, your app, the SSH host and port, and any extra ports you asked for. Press Reveal to see the credentials we minted for them. They are decrypted on demand and never sent by email.

Connect over SSH as theo with the key you provided; the sudo password is one of the revealed credentials. The inference endpoint speaks the OpenAI API, so existing clients work with the base URL swapped and the API key as the bearer token.

Stopping, the auto-stop and grace

Stop from the computer's page whenever you like. Access ends immediately, the computer is wiped, only the minutes it ran were drawn, and the rest of your balance stays for next time. A computer that was never delivered can be cancelled with nothing drawn.

Auto-stop is the optional hard end you set when you plan a duration; change or remove it any time from the page, no money moves. You are reminded 24 hours, 2 hours and 15 minutes before it arrives. When it does, access is cut and the data is kept for two hours: change the auto-stop inside that window and the computer comes back exactly as it was.

When your balance reaches zero, every running computer is stopped the same way, with the same two-hour window: add funds and they come back, with the meter running again. After the window, the computer is wiped.

The rules

One hourly rate, locked when you save, drawn by the minute

The price on the board is ours for the whole box and moves with supply; the one you lock when you save a computer is yours for as long as it runs. Your balance is drawn down by the minute at that rate only while the computer is running — never while it is being set up.

Stop any time; funds are not refundable

Stopping early costs only the minutes it ran, and what is left stays in your balance for the next computer. Funds added to the balance are not refunded to your card.

Two hours of grace

When your balance reaches zero or an auto-stop arrives, access is cut and the data is kept for two hours. Add funds or change the auto-stop inside that window and nothing is lost; after it, the computer is wiped.

Auto-reload only with your exact consent

Auto-reload is never on by default. You agree to one plain sentence that names the threshold, the amount, the card and the once-an-hour limit; it is recorded, and you can turn it off any time in Billing.

No mining

Cryptocurrency mining is banned and monitored. A computer found mining is ended for a breach, with no refund.

Secrets stay sealed

A Hugging Face token or registry and dataset credentials are encrypted at rest and opened exactly once, inside your computer at boot. They never appear in a notification, an email or a log.

Credentials on demand

The notebook token, the API key and the sudo password are minted for your computer and revealed on its page whenever you need them. SSH is key-only.
