Meme Canvas

Meme Canvas is the meme-ads mode of the Creator Canvas. Pick a meme format, add your product, logo, and brand kit (or upload a source ad), and Theo generates a package of on-brand meme ads. Pick the ones you like, iterate, and branch into a tree until you land the winners — then download them one by one or all at once.

How it works

1. Pick a format (or let Theo choose)

Start from a curated library of proven meme formats — Drake, Distracted Boyfriend, Two Buttons, Expanding Brain, Change My Mind, POV, greentext, and more. Each format knows what its caption slots mean and why it's funny, so the joke actually lands.

2. Add your brand inputs

Drop in a product shot, your logo, a brand kit (colors, fonts, voice), or upload a Source Ad you want turned into meme ads. Everything you add steers the captions and the look.

3. Generate a set of 3

Theo composes a package of three distinct meme ads per session — each a genuinely different comedic angle, ideally spread across a couple of formats — so you get real variety, not three rewrites of one joke.

4. Pick one and branch

Like one? Iterate on it and Theo spawns a fresh set of variations off that pick — branching again and again into a tree until you land the ones you love.

A real meme knowledge base

The intelligence is what makes Meme Canvas better than a one-shot "make it a meme" prompt. Every format in the library is annotated with:

  • What each caption slot means— e.g. Drake's "rejected" vs "preferred" panels — so captions go in the right place with the right intent.
  • Why the format is funny and what a good caption does, so the joke mechanic is respected.
  • When it fits a brand — comparison, temptation, hot take, escalation, clapback, and more.

Theo reasons over this to pick the format that matches your message, then writes captions that actually land.

What's in the box

Trending-meme research

Beyond the curated library, Theo pulls the meme formats that are hot right now so your ads feel current — not like last year's templates.

Theo Meme Score

Score any meme on format recognizability, caption legibility, humor, brand-safety, and small-size (thumbnail) legibility — with concrete fixes you can apply and regenerate.

Branching iteration tree

Every pick + iterate spawns a new linked set, so your canvas becomes a visual tree of the directions you explored.

Download one or all

Grab a single meme, or Download All to get every finished meme in the tree bundled into one .zip.

Let Theo direct it

Describe the campaign, get a whole setOpen the Ask Theo rail and type a brief like "meme ads for my cold-brew coffee brand". Theo picks the formats, writes the captions, builds the graph, and renders the set for you. Tweak any caption or format and regenerate — or branch off your favorite.
Score, then improveRun Theo Meme Score on a result to see how it lands on humor, legibility, and brand-safety. Apply the suggested fixes and regenerate to push a promising meme over the line.

FAQ

How is this different from just asking Theo to “make it a meme”?

The Meme Canvas is backed by a real meme knowledge base. Every format carries the meaning of each caption slot, why the format is funny, and when it fits a brand — so Theo picks the right format for your message and writes captions that land, instead of pasting text on a random image. It also researches what's trending, scores the result, and lets you branch, which a one-shot prompt can't do.

What is a “Source Ad”?

It's an existing ad, poster, or product image you upload. Theo reframes it into meme ads — keeping your product and message while recasting it into a recognizable meme format.

Why three memes per set?

A set of three gives you real creative range in one shot. Pick the strongest, branch off it, and keep exploring — each branch generates its own set of three.

How do captions stay readable in a feed?

Theo composes for small-size legibility (classic macros use heavy white text with a crisp outline) and the Theo Meme Score explicitly grades thumbnail readability, so the punchline reads in under a second on a phone.

Is my brand safe?

Yes — the meme-design standard keeps humor tasteful and inclusive: no punching down, nothing offensive or political, and cultural references stay generic. Brand-safety is one of the five scored dimensions.
