Presentations: Getting Started

OpenCharts includes a full AI-powered slide deck editor. Create polished presentations from a text prompt, build slides manually, or convert existing flowcharts and notes into presentation decks.

What are Presentations?

Presentations are a project type alongside flowcharts, whiteboards, and notes. Each presentation is a slide deck with:

  • Structured slides with layouts, themes, and transitions
  • Rich elements: text, images, shapes, charts, code blocks, icons
  • Speaker notes with rich formatting
  • AI generation from a single prompt
  • Multiple presentation modes including rehearsal with AI coaching
  • Publishing to the web with custom URLs and SEO

Content vs Creator Mode

Content Mode

The default mode. Slides contain editable HTML text, images, shapes, and charts that you can freely position and style. Best for data-driven and text-heavy presentations.

  • • Fully editable text with rich formatting
  • • Drag-and-drop element positioning
  • • Charts, code blocks, and icons
  • • 9 slide layouts to choose from

Creator Mode

Each slide is a full-bleed AI-generated image. The AI creates visually striking slides with integrated text. Best for creative, visual-first presentations.

  • • AI-generated full-image slides
  • • 4 visual styles: illustration, photo, people, 3D
  • • Per-slide regeneration and style overrides
  • • Text is baked into the image by AI
You choose the mode during the wizard and can switch via the mode picker in the toolbar. Both modes support speaker notes, transitions, and all presentation features.

Creating Your First Deck

The presentation wizard guides you through a three-step flow:

1

Prompt

Describe your topic in plain language. Choose the number of slides (default 8). The AI understands context, so a sentence is enough.

2

Theme

Pick from 20+ built-in themes (dark, light, professional, colorful, fun) or create a custom theme. You can also extract brand colors from a website URL.

3

Outline & Generate

Review the AI-generated outline. Reorder, edit titles, add or remove cards. Choose a visual style for Creator mode. Click Generate and slides stream in one by one.

The wizard saves your progress to session storage. If you navigate away, you can return and pick up where you left off.

The Editor Interface

Toolbar
