Care Mode — Theo Care
Health intelligence in chat. Ask about symptoms, medications, interactions, conditions, or treatment options — or attach a photo of a rash, bite, or wound — and Theo Care answers with evidence pulled live from trusted medical sources. Theo Care is informational: it is not a doctor and never replaces one.
How It Works
1. Ask naturally. "What could this rash be?", "Can I take ibuprofen with lisinopril?", "What are the treatment options for plantar fasciitis?". Health questions route into Care mode automatically — or pick Care from the mode selector.
2. Theo gathers evidence. Care mode has dedicated tools that query medical literature, FDA drug labels, condition references, and clinical trial registries in real time, then cites what it used.
3. You get a grounded answer. Likely explanations ranked by fit, what you can do now, when to see a clinician, and the red flags that mean "go now" — always with a reminder to confirm with your own doctor.
Flash vs Thinking
Flash
Quick, focused answers in seconds. Best for straightforward questions — "what's a normal dose of X per its label?", "is this interaction a concern?", "what usually causes Y?". Theo answers directly and only reaches for evidence tools when the answer truly depends on them.
Thinking
The deep track. Theo runs the full evidence loop — literature, labels, condition references, trials — and for diagnostic or high-stakes questions convenes a panel of independent AI models for second opinions, then synthesizes where they agree and disagree. Slower, but far more thorough.
Flip the Flash / Thinking pill in the composer (next to the mode selector) before sending. Your choice sticks per conversation.
Photo Analysis
Attach a photo and Theo Care follows a structured read: what is objectively visible → the 2–4 most consistent explanations, ranked → the factors that would distinguish between them → what to do (self-care vs seeing a clinician, and how urgently) → the specific red flags that should trigger immediate care.
Theo always frames image findings as "most consistent with…" — a photo alone can't confirm a diagnosis, and Theo will tell you what an in-person exam or test would add. Your photo is analyzed only; it is never redrawn or edited.
Where the Evidence Comes From
Medical literature
Peer-reviewed research via PubMed (the U.S. National Library of Medicine index) — studies, reviews, and abstracts cited with their real identifiers.
Drug labels & interactions
Official FDA prescribing information via openFDA, with drug names normalized through RxNorm. Interaction checks cross-match the FDA label text of each drug you list.
Condition references
Patient-friendly condition overviews from MedlinePlus plus standard ICD-10 coding via the NLM Clinical Tables service.
Clinical trials
Actively recruiting studies from ClinicalTrials.gov — useful when standard options are exhausted or you want to know what's on the horizon.
If a source can't be reached, Theo says so and clearly labels what comes from general medical knowledge instead. Citations are never invented.
AI Second Opinions
In Thinking depth, Theo Care can convene multiple independent AI models on your case summary and compare their takes — the same engine that powers Consensus mode, tuned for clinical questions. You see where the panel agrees (higher confidence) and where it splits (genuine uncertainty worth raising with your doctor).
The panel receives a de-identified text summary of the case — never your name, and never the raw photo.
Safety — Read This
- Nothing in Care mode is a diagnosis, prescription, or medical advice. It's evidence-grounded information to help you understand your situation and have better conversations with real clinicians.
- Emergencies come first. If your message suggests something life-threatening — chest pain, stroke signs, trouble breathing, severe bleeding, suicidal thoughts, an infant with a fever — Theo tells you to call emergency services before any analysis.
- Dosing information is quoted from official FDA labels only, always with a "confirm with your clinician or pharmacist" framing. Theo never invents dosages.
- Interaction checks are derived from FDA label text — thorough, but not a substitute for a pharmacist review of a complex medication list.
